The Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes In The Costa Brava
Built in the tenth century, this monastery is considered the finest example of Romanesque art in the province of Girona. Almost since its founding, the monastery was increasing its power to become proficient territories on either side of the Pyrenees. This outstanding example of Romanesque church, the bell tower of the twelfth century, and the defense tower in the same period. The year 1697 marks the beginning of the decline of the monastery from here, their influence decreases and subsequent looting the place suffers as a consequence of which was the disappearance of valuable pieces such as the Bible of San Pedro.
Currently, this Benedictine monastery houses the Center for the Study of the same name. The architectural ensemble has also been chosen as one of the offices of Cap de Creus Natural Park. The majesty of the architecture and the beauty of a place from which to dominate the entire peninsula of Cap de Creus make the whole a true spectacle for the senses. Without doubt an idyllic place that exudes beauty worth visiting, which makes it easier to rent an apartment on the Costa Brava.
